Dahved Levy to Host Israelite Banquet

Dahved Levy to Host
Israelite Banquet

WBLS is the most popular radio station in New York City for R&B music. Over 20 years ago, Dahved Levy broke onto the airwaves with his signature chant “Rockin’ You! Rockin’ You! Rockin’ You!” With that shout he diversified the musical tastes of millions of listeners who enjoy his mix of Caribbean music, which is #1 in its category. He goes by the moniker “The Original Rude Bwoy.” What many fans do not know is that Dahved Levy is also a proud Israelite with a deep spiritual core.

Dahved ( a spelling he adopted to preserve the Hebraic pronunciation of his name) is honored to serve as host of the banquet celebrating the inauguration of Chief Rabbi Capers Funnye.  In his native Barbados, Dahved attended the Zion House of Israel. When he immigrated to the United States as a college student, he lived with the late Chief Rabbi Levi Ben Levy, who adopted him as a godson. Over the years he has achieved great fame and success. His walls are adorned with pictures with celebrities, he has traveled the world, and conducted interviews with such luminaries as Nelson Mandela and Bill Clinton. When people question his Jewishness, he usually erases all doubt by flawlessly reciting a Hebrew blessing or by impressing the skeptic with his knowledge of Israelite history.

In addition to serving as our MC for the evening, Dahved has invited Chief Rabbi Funnye to join him on air at WBLS to talk about the importance of this convention and the history of our community.

We are proud of Dahved for never forgetting his roots, his identity, and his God.
